Not good at driving a car!
Here is a recommended Sakurajima tourist course by public transportation for those who are not good at driving!

Kagoshima airport

First of all, Kagoshima airport is the gateway to Kagoshima.
As soon as you exit the domestic arrival gate, you will find a natural hot spring footbath called "Oyattosaa".

Oyattosaa is a Kagoshima dialect and it means "Good work" or "Thanks for your hard work" in Kagoshima dialect.
You can enter the footbath for free!

There is a taxi stand and a bus stop near the footbath.
Bus stop No. 8 is for buses going to Kagoshima City.

The bus departs about three times an hour, The fare is JPY 1,300 for adults and JPY 650 for children!

Fares can be paid in advance with cash or Rapica.
If you have Suica, PASMO, ICOCA, etc., you cannot use them so you should have some cash ready♪

Kagoshima Chuo station

Take a bus from Kagoshima airport takes about 50 min to reach Kagoshima Chuo station!

Kagoshima Chuo station is the first and last station on the Kyushu Shinkansen line and is a terminal station where various lines arrive and depart.

Buses from the airport stop at Kagoshima Chuo station.
The buses from the airport stop at Kagoshima Chuo station because there is a tram stop right next to where you get off, Next, let's take the tram♪

Tram

Take the tram from Kagoshima Chuo station and get off at the Aquarium exit.

The tram fare is JPY 170 for adults and JPY 80 for children (elementary school students and younger).

The tram also passes through Kagoshima city's famous arcade, the Tenmonkan.
If you want to take multiple rides in one day, it is more economical to purchase a one-day pass for a tram and city bus, or Kagoshima city view bus (a bus that circulates around Kagoshima city).

A one-day pass is JPY 600 for adults and JPY 300 for children!
